Welcome to the University of Marc Ecko

For centuries, people have talked about a connection between creativity and madness. The Fall 2014 collection draws inspiration from man’s insistence to rebel and express his unique voice — to dissent. Creatively and figuratively.

Socrates was the father of western philosophy and education. He taught Plato.

Plato, his protege, went on to teach Aristotle.

Aristotle had contempt for his teacher, and rejected his learnings - which fueled his own unique teachings and new perspectives.

This “love/hate” relationship between the teacher and the student, “the answers and the questions” has been the catalyst for all great instances of change.

The student, frustrated by all the “grey” and “vague answers” seeks to find new “certain- ness” in his own definitions of BLACK & WHITE. His genius is fueled by a mania. A madness.

Agents of change are all clearly marked by genius. They unquestionably suffer from their genius. They are not among us. Indeed, they may be mad. And obviously, in a class all of their own creation.
